WHO WE ARE
Mlomotsha School of Excellence
Mlomotsha School of Excellence is an international secondary school located in the rural community of Mlomoliwoto Village, Umzingwane District, Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe.
Our rural location is an important part of who we are, but it does not define the limits of our students' education. We are building a school where children can receive an education that combines strong local foundations with international standards, modern technology and global exposure.
We believe that a child's geographical location or family circumstances should never determine the quality of education available to them. At Mlomotsha, rural students are given the tools, opportunities and expectations to compete with students anywhere in the world.
OUR STORY
Why Mlomotsha Was Founded
Mlomotsha was born from a concern about the growing divide between children who have access to quality education and those who do not. For many families, particularly in rural communities, excellent education can seem increasingly out of reach.
We set out to build something different: an international school in a rural setting where affordability would not mean accepting lower standards and where rural education would never be treated as second-class education.
What began as a vision has continued to grow through the commitment of families, teachers, community members, friends and supporters. Every classroom constructed, every computer installed and every new opportunity created represents another step towards that vision.
Mlomotsha is more than a collection of buildings. It is an investment in what young people can become when opportunity is brought closer to them.
EDUCATION FOR A CHANGING WORLD
Technology, Science & Innovation
We are preparing our students not simply for today's examinations, but for the world they will enter tomorrow.
Technology is deliberately integrated into learning at Mlomotsha. Students have access to computers, digital learning platforms and emerging educational technologies that supplement classroom teaching, encourage independent learning and connect them to knowledge beyond the boundaries of our campus.
Our commitment to science also extends beyond textbooks. Through laboratory learning, technology and astronomy, we encourage students to investigate and experience the world for themselves.
The development of the Mlomotsha Observatory reflects this philosophy. A student growing up in rural Zimbabwe should have the same opportunity to look through a telescope, explore the universe and imagine a future in science as a student anywhere else in the world.
EXCELLENCE BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Developing the Whole Student
Academic achievement is central to our purpose, but a Mlomotsha education extends beyond examination results.
Our students are encouraged to participate in leadership, debate, public speaking, academic competitions, sport, cultural activities and community life. These experiences help students develop confidence, discipline, communication skills, teamwork and a sense of responsibility.
We expect our students to work hard and conduct themselves with integrity. At the same time, we encourage them to be curious, courageous and ambitious.
Whether representing Mlomotsha in a competition, speaking before an audience, participating in sport or taking responsibility within the school, we want every student to discover that where they come from does not have to limit where they can go.

Quality education has increasingly become elusive for most families in Zimbabwe. It looks like only those with deep pockets can purchase quality education. At Mlomotsha we believe in equity and equality. Quality education should not be denied to any child based on the uncontrollable circumstance of that child’s birth.
We will do everything in our power to offer high quality education that is affordable to the disadvantaged children.

Mlomotsha is still being built. That is part of our story.
Our vision is to develop a model of rural education that demonstrates what is possible when high expectations are combined with committed teachers, modern technology, strong leadership and a community that believes in its children.
We will continue strengthening our academic programs, science and technology facilities, student accommodation and opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. As the school grows, our ambition is not simply to become bigger. It is to become better.
We want generations of young people to leave Mlomotsha prepared for further education, employment, entrepreneurship, leadership and service to their communities.
Our location may be rural, but our vision is global. At Mlomotsha, where a child begins should never determine how far that child can go.
