OUR CURRICULUM

A Broad Education with a Global Outlook

At Mlomotsha School of Excellence, we offer a broad and challenging curriculum designed to give students strong academic foundations while preparing them for further education and life in an increasingly interconnected world.

Our curriculum spans Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, Humanities, Commercial subjects, Technology and practical learning. Students are encouraged to discover their strengths while developing competence across different areas of knowledge.

Our academic approach incorporates ZIMSEC and Cambridge pathways, combining strong national foundations with international perspectives and opportunities.

LANGUAGES, HUMANITIES & COMMERCIALS

Preparing Well-Rounded Students

A strong education must develop both analytical ability and an understanding of people, society, culture and the world.

Our Languages and Humanities curriculum includes subjects such as English, Ndebele, Literature, History, Geography and Heritage Studies. These subjects strengthen communication, critical thinking, cultural understanding and the ability to engage thoughtfully with different ideas.

Students also have access to Commercial subjects including Accounts and Business Studies, providing foundations in business, entrepreneurship, finance and economic decision-making.

This breadth allows students to pursue pathways that reflect their individual talents and future aspirations.

SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS & DISCOVERY

Developing Scientific Thinkers

Science and Mathematics are central to our academic program. Students build their foundations through Mathematics and Combined Science before progressing to opportunities in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

We believe science is best understood when students can investigate, experiment and discover. Classroom instruction is therefore supported by laboratory experiences, practical work and opportunities to connect scientific concepts with the real world.

Our astronomy program and Mlomotsha Observatory extend this spirit of discovery even further, encouraging students to look beyond the textbook, ask questions and explore the universe around them.

TECHNOLOGY & PRACTICAL LEARNING

Learning for the World of Tomorrow

Technology is integrated into the Mlomotsha learning experience. Students use computers and digital learning resources to research, practise, collaborate and extend learning beyond traditional classroom instruction.

Our curriculum also includes Technology, Technical Drawing and Design (TTD), Agriculture and Physical Education, ensuring that learning is not confined to theory.

We are also exploring the responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging educational technologies to strengthen teaching and support independent learning.

Our aim is not simply to teach students how to use technology, but to develop confident learners who can use modern tools to solve problems, create and continue learning throughout their lives.

PATHWAYS TO THE FUTURE

From Strong Foundations to Advanced Study

As students progress through Mlomotsha, the curriculum becomes increasingly focused on their abilities, interests and future ambitions.

Our developing advanced academic pathways extend across the Sciences, Arts and Commercials, creating opportunities for deeper study in areas such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Literature, Accounts and Business Studies.

Throughout every stage, our objective remains the same: to develop students who can think critically, communicate confidently, use technology effectively, solve problems and take responsibility for their own learning.

A Mlomotsha education is designed to open doors — whether a student's next destination is university, professional training, entrepreneurship, employment or further study elsewhere in the world.
