Life at Mlomotsha
Life at Mlomotsha is about more than lessons and examinations. It is made up of friendships, discoveries, challenges, celebrations and the everyday experiences that help young people grow. Here are some of the moments that make Mlomotsha, Mlomotsha.
The First Look Through a Telescope
For many Mlomotsha students, their first look through a telescope is an unforgettable experience. The Moon and stars suddenly become more than pictures in a textbook—they become something students can observe and explore for themselves.
Through the Mlomotsha Observatory, students are introduced to the wonder of astronomy and encouraged to ask questions about the universe around them. These experiences bring science to life and inspire curiosity, discovery and imagination.
Sometimes, a new interest begins with a lesson. Other times, it begins with simply looking up.
When the Final Whistle Blows
The classroom may be quiet, but the sports field certainly isn't. Football, netball, athletics and other sporting activities bring out competition, teamwork and school spirit. Students learn to play hard, respect their opponents and represent Mlomotsha with pride.
A Home Away From Home
For our boarding students, Mlomotsha is both school and home. Dormitory life brings together students from different families and communities, creating friendships and memories that often last long after their school years.
The Goat Naming Ceremony
At Mlomotsha, even a goat can become part of the school story. After a parent paid school fees with a pregnant goat, the school welcomed an unexpected bonus when she gave birth to twins. What followed was a memorable goat-naming ceremony, with the growing Mlomotsha family gaining three unforgettable members — Bhera, Mlomo and Tsha. It was a joyful reminder that school life sometimes produces lessons and memories that no timetable could ever plan.
